Lovebites

Genre: Power Metal

Lovebites stormed onto the metal scene in 2016 and quickly gained international acclaim for their blistering speed and precision. They are heavily inspired by European power metal bands, which is evident in their melodic yet ferocious style. 

Standout albums like “Clockwork Immortality” with "Rising" or the album “Electric Pentagram” and songs like "Holy War" showcase their technical brilliance.

Mary's Blood

Genre: Power/Heavy Metal

Mary’s Blood formed back in 2009, rising from the ashes of another influential band, Destrose. The band were known for blending traditional heavy metal with power metal elements. They made a name for themselves with heavy riffs, shredding guitar solos, and commanding stage shows.

With albums like 2016s Fate and first album "Countdown to Evolution" Mary’s Blood has cemented their place in the Japanese metal landscape with both Japanese and western fans.

Show-Ya

Genre: Heavy Metal / Hard Rock

One of the pioneering all-female hard rock / heavy metal bands from Japan, Show-Ya was formed in the early 1980s! They broke barriers for women in the Japanese rock and metal scene in a Country dominated by male rock bands, and females who were meant to be pop acts.

With their hard-hitting sound and long-standing career, Show-Ya continues to influence the newer generations of female musicians.

It is those newer generation bands that helped Show-Ya gain international recognition outside of Japan in later years, with their blend of heavy metal/ hard rock and the longevity of the band. With classic hits like "Genkai Lovers" and "Watashi wa Arashi." Still touring and releasing music today, their legacy as trailblazers is undeniable.

Aldious

Genre: Power Metal / Metal

Aldious is often credited as one of the most influential all-female metal bands from Japan.

Formed in 2008, they helped spearhead the "Girls Metal Band Boom" in Japan around that time, introducing a new wave of powerful female talent to the metal scene.

Aldious impressed fans with their blend of fast-paced, melodic power metal and unmistakable stage flair. Hanabie

Genre: Metalcore / Electronicore (Harajuku-core)

Hanabie is an exciting and innovative band in Japan's metal scene, known for their fusion of metalcore with J-pop and electronic elements.

Cyntia

Genre: Electronic Metal  / Heavy Rock

Cyntia made waves in the Japanese metal scene with their melodic approach to electronic metal and catchy rock sound.

Formed in 2011, they quickly gained a loyal following for their harmonious blend of powerful guitar riffs, electronic / power metal elements, and emotive vocals.

Albums like “Limit Break” and “Woman” received critical acclaim. With tracks like "Run to the Future" and "Shinai Egoism" also perfectly illustrate their polished, catchy, and grandiose sound.

The band have been on hiatus indefinitely since 2018 - but we can only hope for a reunion tour one day!

TRiDENT

Genre: Hard Rock/Metal

TRiDENT, formerly known as “Girls Rock Band Kakumei”, is a powerful three-member Japanese hard rock and metal band that emerged on the scene originally in 2013.

Their music combines the intensity of metal with catchy melodies, delivering a unique sound that straddles both aggression and accessibility.

Known for their energetic live performances and tightly-knit instrumentation with popular tracks like "Continue," and "Cry Out", the band continues to push boundaries and evolve their sound. Even after facing line-up changes and rebranding!

Nemophila

Genre: Loud Rock /Heavy Metal

Nemophila is one of the rising stars in Japan's all-female metal scene. Formed in 2019, the band quickly garnered attention for their aggressive yet melodic approach to metal, blending elements of loud rock,  melodic metal  and traditional heavy metal.

Vocalist Mayu's dynamic range - from growls to clean vocals, paired with Saki's and Hazuki shredding guitar work, driving bass and heavy beats from Haraguchi-san and Tamu Murata, creates a sound that’s both ferocious and captivating. 

Arguably,  the band were noticed more by a western audience with their cover of Iron Maiden's “The Trooper” which was released as a video on YouTube in the bands rehearsal studio notching up over 3.4 million views!

Tracks like "Revive" and "Dissension" have become fan favourites, and Nemophila's fierce live performances have earned them international recognition, marking them as one of Japan’s most promising modern metal bands.

Nemophila are now continuing as a 4 member band after the departure of Saki in March of 2024.
